Barnstaple Round Table Team Race For Glory

ROUND_TABLE_KARTING_001

At this years annual area karting challenge we sent a team of finely tuned athletes to pit their driving prowess against teams from across the area.

After qualifying, and nearly managing pole position, thanks to brilliant laps from Simon (The Steg, not Stig) Randall, Nigel Smith, Guest Ben and Perry Meares. We eventually started in 7th, due to Sol's thinking he was out on a family jolly in the Range Rover on a Sunday afternoon.

The race started with Steg taking us off the grid and valliantly, couragously and with expertise matched only by his near namesake finished his first outing with the team now in 4th place.

The teams efforts continued with all the other drivers either holding their own or proceeding up the drivers list. Then came time for Sol's first race outing, with the pressure on to maintain position and adrenalin pumping, he donned his racing kit, tightened his helmet, adjusted his gloves and tied his shoelaces (don't worry his mum showed him how before he left the house earlier that day). With the engine roaring in the pit and rubber melting off the warmed tyres, Sol jumped in waited for the pit marshal to give hime the nod. The pit marshal dropped his hand and Sol, steering wheel grabbed tightly, his knuckles white (and that's not an easy task for him) roared out of the pit lane. Race groupies screamed in excitement and the crowds watched avidly as the intrepid driver negotiated the tight hairpin bends and raced down the straights. Gasps were heard from the audience at the adroitness shown by the intrepid driver. Elegantly manouvering his kart in readyness to overtake, lifting off the accelerator late then flooring it leaving other karts standing. This continued for several laps until i realized I was watching someone else, I looked at the results screen and we had dropped to 9th place.

Not sure how this happened but i am sure it wasn't your driving Sol.
